Frustration

Does everyone get frustrated or is it just me? I’m frustrated when I don’t perform well. I’m frustrated when things don’t work out the way I think they should. I’m frustrated when people don’t live up to my expectations.

Frustration is unavoidable. We all have our own ideas about how things should turn out and how people should behave. When it goes another way, we experience frustration. Surely learning to accept that all things will not go your way and all people will not perform the way you think they should, would end frustration, right? Not really. Acknowledging that things are not always going to be done according to your choice is one thing. Keeping the frustration away is quite another. I hope I’m growing in this area but I still have a long way to go.

In the meantime I cannot let my service to God be dampened by the frustration I sometimes experience. I must keep myself in check and make sure that frustration does not stand in the way of the goals I have set for myself. My goals exist. They are real. They are possible and with the help of God they are mine.

And now I must ask myself, “Who am I frustrating?”
